Drummer Vijay Anderson lives in Oakland, California. He holds an MFA from Mills College, where he studied with Roscoe Mitchell, William Winant, David Bernstein, and Fred Frith. He earned his BA from S.F. State, studying under Eddie Marshall, Francis Wong, Hafez Modirzadeh, and Wayne Wallace.

Anderson has performed and recorded with Vinny Golia, Ben Goldberg, Sheldon Brown, John Schott, Graham Connah, Darren Johnston, Smith Dobson V, Lisa Mezzacappa, Aaron Bennett, Ava Mendoza, Marco Eneidi, Adam Lane, Avram Fefer and Roy Campbell.

Other notable career highlights include playing with Paul Smoker, John Tchicai, Wadada Leo Smith, Bishop Norman Williams, BJ Papa, Bill Horvitz, Phillip Johnston, and Joel Forrester.

He has played at Yoshi’s, the Hammer Museum, the De Young Museum, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the San Jose Jazz Festival, the Fillmore Jazz Festival, the North Beach Jazz Festival, and the San Francisco Summerfest Jazz Festival.

Saxophonist and composer Aaron Bennett has been an active force in the Bay Area jazz and improvised music communities for more than 15 years. He earned a BA in music at Cal State Long Beach, and an MFA in jazz performance from California Institute of the Arts.

He has performed with Wadada Leo Smith, Peter Kowald, John Butcher, Vinny Golia, Donald Robinson, Marco Eneidi, Gianni Gebbia, Weasel Walter, Adam Lane, Larry Ochs, Steve Adams, John Raskin, Victoria Williams, Aphrodesia, and many others.

He leads his own groups, Go-Go-Fightmaster, electro-magnetic trans-personal orchestra, and performs in the Oakland Active Orchestra, Lisa Mezzacappa's Bait & Switch, Vijay Anderson Quartet, Guerilla Hi-Fi, and Lagos-Roots.

Guitarist John Finkbeiner has performed and recorded with the best and brightest in the Bay Area music scene — as a member of Darren Johnston’s United Brassworkers Front, the Smith Dobson IV Quartet, Lisa Mezzacappa’s Bait & Switch, Aaron Bennett’s Go-Go Fightmaster, Adam Lane’s Full Throttle Orchestra, Vijay Anderson’s Hardboiled Wonderland Sextet, and Scott Larson’s Red Light Abatements, among many others.

As recording engineer and co-founder of New, Improved Recording in Oakland, CA, John has shaped the sound of an emerging generation of West Coast creative musicians.
