Roberta Piket

 


Since pianist/composer Roberta Piket returned to her native New York, the New England Conservatory graduate has played and recorded with Benny Golson, Dave Liebman, Rufus Reid, Michael Formanek, Lionel Hampton, Elliot Zigmund, Mickey Roker, Rich Perry, Billy Hart, Jeff Williams, Harvie S, Ratzo Harris and Billy Mintz. She has twice been a featured guest on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, on National Public Radio, as well as performing with Ms McPartland in concert at the Eastman School of Music.

Roberta has performed her music at venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for the Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival, the Texaco-New York (Knitting Factory) Jazz Festival, the Blue Note Club in New York, the Museum of Modern Art, Birdland, and Dizzy’s at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She has also toured Japan, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Ukraine and Spain.

She has held master classes at the Eastman School of Music, Rutgers University, Cal Arts, Duke University, the Northwestern University Composers' Colloquium, and many others in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

In her fifth appearance at Chez Hanny, Roberta will present a solo piano program of mostly standards by Monk, Strayhorn, McPartland, Corea, Shorter and Hancock, as well as improvisations on classical themes by Scriabin and Chopin.
