Patrick Greene Trio

A native of St. Louis, guitarist/composer Patrick Greene moved to the Bay Area in the early 1990s. Before that, he was active in the music scenes of St. Louis, Milwaukee, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Not long after arriving in the Bay, he began a three year period of performing with Bishop Norman Williams and BJ Papa. During this time he received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Music and Jazz Performance from Sonoma State University. He has studied with Randy Vincent, Sid Jacobs, and Anthony Peterson.

His first CD features Eddie Marshall on drums and Jeff Pittson on organ. He was a member of 8 piece Funk band Swoop Unit, playing venues and festivals across Northern California for 17 years.

He has studied and played a broad range of guitar styles, including Funk, R&B, Reggae and West African. However, Jazz continues to be his biggest muse. He teaches guitar privately and has been on the faculty of the Community Music Center since 2001.

Bay Area drummer Michael Reed began drumming at a young age, and has worked consistently in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York since the 1990s.

Reed’s deep roots in soul and jazz informs regular recordings for Lugnut Brand Records (Pittsburg), CB Records (SF), and Funk Night Records (Detroit), and his self-produced drumbreaks have become highly sought after by hip hop and electronic producers.

Reed regularly performs with Secret Sidewalk, Andre Cruz and Chris Lujan, The Grease Traps, and the Patrick Greene Trio.
