Jim Grantham Quartet

Jim Grantham springs from the tradition of melodic lyricism: Lester Young, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter. The group features many original compositions as well as great jazz standards from composers such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, and Joe Henderson,

Jim Grantham plays tenor and soprano saxes and flute. He has performed with many fine musicians including Bobby McFerrin, George Cables, Eddie Moore, Mark Isham, Ed Kelly, Gaylord Birch, Frank Tusa, and Calvin Keys. He has recorded with Jessica Williams and Eddie Henderson.

He is also a well-known jazz educator, and has authored a popular, in-depth text on jazz improvisation.


Fiery pianist Spencer Allen has performed and recorded with Kitty Margolis, Branice McKenzie, Terrie Odabi, John "Buddy" Conner, Roy Hargrove, Noel Jewkes, Kenny Brooks, Melvin Butts, Dave Ellis, Calvin Keys, Brad Buethe, Herb Gibson, Yancie Taylor, Jeff Chambers, Peter Barshay, Ron Belcher, and Babatunde Lea.

Jeff Neighbor is a long time Bay Area master bassist. His career spans over half a century and includes every kind of music.

He has worked with Art Pepper, Blue Mitchell, Frank Rosolino, Cab Calloway, Anita O’Day, Barney Kessel, John Handy, Clark Terry, The Four Freshmen, Herb Ellis, Sweets Edison, Bill Watrous, Kai Winding, Dan Hicks, and Michel Legrand.

His recordings include Denny Zeitlin, Hubert Laws, The Hi-Lo’s, Linda Rondstadt, and 30+ movie soundtracks.

Jack Dorsey, native New Yorker, is a top, in-demand pro drummer known for his infectious groove.

He has performed and recorded internationally with such diverse artists as The Coasters, Randy Crawford, Jose Feliciano, Bobby Freeman, Johnny Griffin, Paul Horn, Etta Jones, Ed Kelly, Buddy Miles, The Oakland Jazz Choir, Denise Perrier, Khalil Shaheed, Paula West, Jimmy Witherspoon, and Zakir Hussain.
