Glen Pearson Trio


Pianist Glen Pearson has brought sensitivity and expression to the widest variety of music imaginable. His performances on stage, television, radio, and in recording studios have included his well known position as principle keyboardist for Regina Belle, as well as pianist and orchestrator with such notables as Jimmy Scott, Ernestine Anderson, Dianne Reeves, Marlena Shaw, Bobby Hutcherson, Delfeayo Marsalis, James Moody, Frank Morgan, Chico Freeman and Will Downing. Mr. Pearson also served for eleven years as the Musical/Band Director for the world renowed Boy’s Choir of Harlem.

A native of Oakland, California, Glen is the current head of music studies at the College of Alameda. He began studying piano at age six and was playing professionally by age fifteen. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from San Francisco State University as well as a Master of Arts degree from New York University. Additionally, he has been the recipient of several honors including the prestigious Eubie Blake Memorial Scholarship Award.

Glen’s recording credits are numerous, most notably an award winning jazz album by percussionist Babatundae Lea. He has also appeared both on record and in videos with Will Downing and Gerald Albright.

He has worked both on and off Broadway with Savion Glover, Gregory Hines, Arthur Miller, Patrick Stewart and George Wolfe.

He appeared at Chez Hanny in 2009 with vocalist Dima.


Bassist Jeff Chambers has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Concord Jazz Festival (CA), Monterey Jazz Festival (CA), Fujitsu Jazz Festival (Japan), Newport Jazz Festival (RI) and countless others.

He has played with many great jazz artists including Buddy Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Les McCann, Eddie Harris, Benny Carter, Tommy Flannagan, Joe Henderson, Dakota Staton, McCoy Tyner, Joe Williams, Little Jimmie Scott, Tony Williams, Frank Morgan, Dr. Dorothy Donegan, Kenny Burrell, James Moody, Nat Adderley, Milt Jackson, John Hendricks, Benny Golson, Larry Coryell, Hank Crawford, Abbey Lincoln, Ernestine Anderson, Don Cherry, Clifford Jordan, Laurindo Almeida, Teddy Edwards, Roy McCurdy, Richie Cole, Slide Hampton, George Coleman, Mel Lewis, Archie Shepp, Cedar Walton, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Ahmad Jamal, Pharoah Sanders, Houston Person, Bobby Hutcherson, Charlie Rouse and Marlena Shaw.

Jeff has performed at Chez Hanny with Patti Wicks and Jerome Sabbagh.

Drummer Deszon X. Claiborne is one of the busiest musicians in the Bay Area. His very diverse credits include Don Cherry, Ornette Coleman, Bo Diddley, Phyllis Hyman, Jay McShann, Michael White, Andy Narell, Alex Acuna, Ray Obiedo, Alphabet Soup, Charles Brown, Dave Ellis, Rodney Franklin and Peter Apfelbaum.

He studied with Ralph Humphrey, James Levi, Billy Cobham, Richard Peterson, Barry Jekowsky and Kenneth Nash, and has taught at the Stanford Jazzz Workshop and Berkeley's Jazzschool.

He appeared previously at Chez Hanny with Larry Schneider and Charles McNeal.
