Jared Gold Organ Trio featuring Sylvia Cuenca and Brian Levy


Jared Gold's recent emergence as one of New York's most in demand organists comes from years of dedication and respect to the Hammond B3. Versatility has provided Jared the opportunity to work with such established veterans as Dave Stryker, John Abercrombie, Ed Cherry, Jon Gordon, Oliver Lake, Bill Goodwin, Adam Nussbaum, Jimmy Ponder, Ralph Bowen, Bruce Williams, Cecil Brooks III, Don Braden, Ralph Peterson, William Ash, John Swana, and Tony Reedus.

Jared's discography includes "Enjoy the Moment" with Randy Napoleon and Quincy Davis, "The Chaser" with the Dave Stryker Trio, "Going Somewhere" with the Avi Rothbard Trio, "Broadway Alley" with the William Ash Trio, "Springloaded" with the Dan Pratt Organ Quartet, and "Supersonic" with Ed Cherry and McClenty Hunter. His latest (2010) release as a leader, "Out of Line", features Dave Stryker, Chris Cheek and Mark Ferber.

Jared appeared at Chez Hanny in 2005 with the Dan Pratt Organ Quartet, and in 2008 and 2009 with his trio with Ed Cherry and Sylvia Cuenca.

Drummer Sylvia Cuenca has recently performed extensively with trumpet legend Clark Terry's quintet at venues such as the Village Vanguard and Blue Note in New York City. In the 80's and 90's, she toured internationally with saxophonist Joe Henderson, including trio settings with Henderson and bassists Charlie Haden or George Mraz.

As a sideman, Ms. Cuenca has performed and toured with such jazz luminaries as Billy Taylor, Kenny Barron, John Hicks, George Cables, Marian McPartland, Jon Faddis, Frank Foster, Michael Brecker, Ralph Moore, Regina Carter, Houston Person, Etta Jones, Mulgrew Miller, Lew Tabackin, Jon Hendricks, Helen Merrill, Dianne Reeves, Stan Getz, and Joshua Redman.

She has two recordings as a leader, "The Crossing" and "Exit 13."

Saxophonist Brian Levy recently released his debut CD, "Brian Levy Plays" and recorded his second. Brian is also featured on four instructional jazz videos by world-renowned saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi.

Recent career highlights include a performance at "Hinterhalt" in Munich, a John Coltrane/McCoy Tyner Tribute featuring Ralph Penland, and a jazz fusion concert with Mikan Zlatkovic. Brian has also performed at "Birdland" in New York City and was featured at an international jazz festival in Serbia.

Brian has performed with Ralph Penland, Gilbert Castellanos, Joe Bagg, Adam Nussbaum, Alphonse Mouzon, Dave Santoro, and George Gruntz.

Brian has taught jazz courses at the New England Conservatory, Harvard University, and Brandeis University. He earned a Doctorate (The New England Conservatory) and Masters Degree (Manhattan School of Music), and is currently working on a PhD (Brandeis University). His instructors have included Jerry Bergonzi, David Liebman, Dave Santoro, Garry Dial, and Dick Oatts.
