Jeremy Cohen‘s electrifying jazz violin performances have
earned him
nationwide accolades. Classically-trained and a student of Itzhak
Perlman and Anne Crowden, Cohen’s eclectic style reflects his respect
for a wide range of violinists from Perlman and Fritz Kreisler to Joe
Venuti and Eddie South.
Cohen has performed as soloist with orchestras including the
Virginia Symphony, the California Symphony and the Reno Philharmonic.
His recording credits include motion picture and television soundtracks
and as
concertmaster on recordings with Linda Ronstadt, Ray Charles, Aaron
Neville, Howard Keel, and Cleo Laine. He appeared on Carlos Santana’s
Grammy-winning CD “Supernatural” and the original “Star Wars”
compilation CD with John Williams. On the stage he was the solo
violinist in “Forever Tango” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”
and has toured and recorded with the 2006 Grammy winners, the Turtle
Island String Quartet, and his own groups ViolinJazz and Quartet San
Francisco.
He performed here previously with the Eddie Pasternak Trio, and Violinjazz.
Pianist, composer and arranger Larry Dunlap has a multifaceted
career that includes extensive work in the fields of jazz, classical
and popular music.
Since the early 1980s Larry has been pianist in North America with the
British singer Dame Cleo Laine and her musician husband Sir John
Dankworth. His past work has seen him appearing and/or recording with
jazz vocalists Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Ernestine Anderson and Joe
Williams, as well as instrumentalists Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Ralph
Towner, Ernie Watts, Bud Shank and Larry Coryell.
In the pop music field Larry has toured with The Pointer Sisters,
Country Joe McDonald, and others.
For the past 30 years Larry has worked closely with the Cape Verdean
composer Amandio Cabral, recording several cds of his own
interpretations of Mr. Cabral’s music.
He performed here previously with the Larry Dunlap Quartet featuring
Charlie McCarthy, and Violinjazz.
Jim Kerwin is best known as the bass player for the David
Grisman
Quintet, having played with David for nearly 30 years, and 10 years
playing with Jerry Garcia in the Garcia - Grisman Band.
He has worked with Yo Yo Ma, Stephane Grappelli, Sven Assmussen, Bela
Fleck, Edgar Meyer, George Marsh, Gary Burton, Herbie Hancock, Denny
Zeitlin, and Bonnie Raitt.
As a player and composer he has been part of six Grammy nominated
projects.
He performed here previously with Jon Eriksen, and Violinjazz.
Drummer David Rokeach
toured with Ray Charles from 1990-91. He has performed/recorded with
Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Aaron Neville, Mavis Staples, Lou
Rawls, Dr. John, Joe Henderson, Mark Murphy, The George Brooks-Zakir
Hussain Group, Wilson Pickett, Linda Tillery, Steve Miller, Joe
Satriani, Joyce Cooling, Maria Muldaur, Calvin Keys, Barry Finnerty,
Merl Saunders, David Grisman, Louis Bellson, Wayne Wallace, The Nelson
Riddle Orchestra, Paula West, Marcos Silva, The Coasters, The
Shirelles, Ernestine Anderson, Oscar Brown Jr., Ingrid Jensen, Maria
Schneider, and Rita Moreno.
He played Chez Hanny previously with Klobas/Kesecker Ensemble, Debbie
